Merlot loose-leaf lettuce could be the deepest-colored lettuce available. Crisp, deep maroon, shiny leaves are arranged in loose rosettes, ideal for harvesting leaf by ruffled leaf. Merlot quickly produces new leaves for continuous harvest. Cold tolerant, slow to bolt, and very mildew resistant. Winner of the Missouri Botanical Garden Plants of Merit award. Organically grown.
Growing Merlot Loose-Leaf Lettuce Seeds
Sow seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil and cover lightly. Kept at 65°F., germination averages 7-14 days. Can direct sow into prepared seed beds 1 in. apart in rows 12-18 in. apart. Thin to 4-12 in. apart.
