'Helena Mix' helenium plants produce vivid daisy-like flowers from July to October on easy to grow 4 foot plants. They explode into bloom with flowers in shades of yellow, bronze-red and bicolors. Butterflies love these blossoms, and they are excellent for cutting. At the rear of flower borders Helena Mix provides much needed mid to late season color.
Sow Helenium seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 70°F, Helenium seed germinates in 10-21 days. Transplant Helenium seedlings into the garden 12-18 inches apart. See Starting Your Seeds for more information.
Growing Helenium: Plants perform best in full sun. Helenium flowers attract honey bees and butterflies; are excellent cut flowers. Helenium plants tolerate both heat and drought, and are rabbit and deer resistant.
