2024 All-America Selections National Winner, and Best of Show winner at the 2025 Penn State Flower Trials. Carmine-red, feathery plumes with magenta pink highlights rise above lush pink-veined bronze leaves.
Burning Embers celosia begins to flower in about 50 days from seed, and will bloom from late spring until the first frost. Bushy, low-branching plants grow 8-10 in. tall, providing a sturdy base for the dense coverage of pink-stemmed plumes which attract pollinating insects and are excellent cut flowers, fresh or dried. The sun-loving Burning Embers impressed judges with a strong tolerance of heat and humidity. Uniform, long-blooming plants perform nicely in containers, borders and garden beds.
Growing Burning Embers Celosia Seeds
Sow celosia seeds in cell packs or small pots, use a sterilized soil-less mix, cover the seeds lightly. Kept at 70-75°F., germination is in 7-14 days. Provide seedlings with at least 14 hours of light per day. Celosia seedlings are delicate - carefully transplant 12 in. apart. Do not let seedlings become root-bound.
