Sriracha Rose
Cuphea Seeds
Cuphea llavea
Tubular flowers appear freely throughout summer and into the fall, topped with six bright rose-pink petals that resemble crinkled tissue paper. Sriracha Rose cuphea is quick to bloom, within about 75 days from transplant. Bushy, heat and drought-tolerant plants grow about 1 ½ to 2 ft. tall and wide and do not need staking. Hummingbirds and butterflies are very attracted to Sriracha Rose cuphea, which is a tender perennial typically grown as an annual, winter hardy to zone 9.
Growing Sriracha Rose Cuphea Seeds
Sow cuphea seed in cell packs or flats using a sterile seed starting mix. Press seeds gently into soil, but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 70-75°F., germination averages 7 to 14 days. Transplant seedings into the garden 12 in. apart after all danger of frost.
