Coronet Mixture dianthus have 2-3 in. flowers, which are huge when compared to other dianthus flowers. Compact, 8-10 in. mounding plants bloom in the six bright Coronet series colors: Cherry, Purple, Rose, Strawberry, White, and White Purple Eye. Flower petal edges are fringed, creating a lovely lacy effect. Dianthus thrive in the cool weather of spring and fall, and do not tolerate hot and humid summer weather. Pansies and violas make good companion plants to Coronet Mixture dianthus, either in containers or in garden beds. They are biennials or short-lived perennials, winter hardy to zone 5, and can be grown as annuals anywhere.
Growing Coronet Mixture Dianthus Seeds
Sow Dianthus seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil and lightly cover. Kept at 65-70°F. germination averages 1-2 weeks. Transplant into the garden 12-18 in. apart.
