Goldblitz rudbeckias need fewer daylight hours to begin blooming, so the bushy, 32 in. tall and 24 in. wide plants produce flowers 2-3 weeks earlier than comparable rudbeckias like Goldsturm. Golden yellow, single 3 in. daisy-like flowers have a prominent deep brown central disc. Goldblitz is a versatile rudbeckia, thriving as a container plant or massed in garden beds, and providing armloads of long-lasting cut flowers in summer and fall. Bees, butterflies and other pollinators find Goldblitz rudbeckias very attractive.
Growing Goldblitz Rudbeckia Seeds
Sow rudbeckia seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil, do not cover. Kept at 70°F., germination is in 2-3 weeks. Can direct sow into prepared seed beds after all danger of frost, in groups of 3-4 seeds, spaced 12-18 in. apart. Thin to the strongest plant.
