Buddy Blue is a charming, extra dwarf fescue that produces spherical 6 in. diameter spiky clumps of dense, pewter blue foliage. Light tan flowers reach 12 in tall in late spring and early summer.
Buddy Blue fescue makes an attractive low border or edging, and is a natural addition to rock gardens. Heat and drought tolerant; plant in well-drained soil. An evergreen perennial grass, winter hardy to USDA zone 4.
How to Plant and Buddy Blue Fescue
Plant Buddy Blue Fescue Seeds: Sow Buddy Blue Fescue seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil — do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Keep soil evenly moist. Kept at 65-74° F., germination is in 10-20 days. Place into the garden 9 to 15 inches apart.
Grow Buddy Blue Fescue Seeds: Full sun. Average to little water. Needs well drained soil. Tolerates heat and drought, and is deer and rabbit resistant. Use Buddy Blue Fescue to edge borders, as a small-scale ground cover, or grow in small groups as accent plants in the landscape.
