Silvery tufts of narrow, grass-like foliage produce perfectly round, bright yellow 1 in. spheres that sit on top of 2-2.5 ft. long, stiff stems. Include Billy Buttons in sunny borders and mixed container plantings for unusual charm. Plants tolerate heat and heavy soil. Can be grown as a tender perennial in zones 8-11.
Growing Billy Buttons Craspedia Seeds
Sow craspedia seed in cell packs or flats using a sterile seed starting mix. Press seeds gently into soil and barely cover. Kept at 70-75°F., germination averages 14 to 21 days. Transplant seedings into the garden 12 in. apart after all danger of frost.
