Flowers are arranged in dense, globe-shaped clusters atop 1 ft. stems. Colors include carmine-red, dark blue, lavender-blue, lilac, and white. Plants flower very early in spring, thrive in borders or pots. Not for mild winter areas, Ronsdorf Hybrids drumstick primrose plants require a good winter chill. Winter hardy to zone 2.
Growing Ronsdorf Hybrids Drumstick Primrose Seeds
Plant Primrose: Sow primrose seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Need light to germinate. Kept at 60-65° F., germination is in 21-30 days. Transplant seedlings 8-12 in. apart when first anchor roots appear at the base of the plants, just above the soil line. Direct sowing primrose seed is not recommended.
Grow Primrose: Part sun in most climates, full sun in coolest areas. Likes moist, rich, well-drained soil and regular fertilizer. Superb in containers. Taller primroses are excellent for cutting.
