This compact 16 in. tall, first year flowering salvia produces a wealth of spectacular deep violet-blue blooms from May-June through September. Hummingbirds love them! The easy to grow plants are heat tolerant, drought tolerant, and winter hardy to zone 4. Merleau Blue is an outstanding performer in borders or containers. A Fleuroselect Gold Medal winner (Europe's top prize).
Growing Merleau Blue Salvia Seeds
Sow salvia seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 75°F., germination is in 21-30 days. Transplant salvia seedlings into the garden 18 in. apart, after all danger of frost.
