CAPE DAISY SEEDS
a.k.a. Monarch of the Veldt
Arctotis fastuosa syn. Venidium fastuosum
ORANGE Cape Daisy Seeds
Produces masses of vibrant orange sunflower-like blooms above silky silvery-green foliage. Blooms over an extended summer and fall season. Stunning when mass planted and is an excellent cut flower. Grows to 2 feet tall.
WHITE Cape Daisy Seeds
A tough, easy to grow 2 foot tall annual that blooms all summer and fall. The large, white, 3-4 inch flowers are creamy white with black and bronze markings in the center. They are superb for cutting.
How to Plant CAPE DAISY Seeds
Sow seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil and lightly cover. Kept at 70° F., germination is in 14-21 days. Can be direct sown into prepared seed beds after all danger of frost, 3 inches apart. Thin to 1 foot apart.
Comments: Full sun, moderate to average water, fertile well-drained soil. Flowers are excellent for cutting, attract bees, butterflies and birds. Dark central cone looks like a handsome dog's nose. Cutting seedheads leads to maximum bloom, consider leaving a few for the birds to eat, especially late in the season. Easy to grow, low maintenance.
