Mounding, spreading plants produce unusual, olive-shaped, golden-yellow flowers with deep-burgundy eyes. Plants grow 12-15 inches tall, 24-30 inches wide; bloom over a long summer season, are quite showy when massed. Flowers are terrific for cutting. Peek-a-Boo eyeball plant looks great combined with other annuals in your patio containers.
Eyeball plant is also known as 'toothache plant' because leaves and flowers contain spilanthol, a natural analgesic agent that can be used to numb a toothache.
How to Plant Eyeball Plant Seeds
Sow eyeball plant seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil and barely cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 65-70°F., germination averages 14-21 days. Transplant seedlings into the garden 18 inches apart after all danger of frost.
