Enormous brown buds open into spectacular 3-4 inch golden-yellow thistle-like flowers in midsummer. They attract butterflies and are superb in fresh or dried arrangements. Grows 3-4 feet tall. Great in conventional perennial borders or in hard to reach areas of the garden. Established plants are drought resistant and almost indestructible, living up to 15 or more years with minimum care.
