From June to August, these graceful evergreen perennials produce elegant, pink, red, or purple bell-shaped flowers on long, wiry 4-7 foot stems. The swordlike leaves grow to 3-4 feet long and ½ inch wide. Fairy Wand looks terrific near swimming pools, against a background of dark green shrubs, or in large containers. Winter hardy to zone 7.

Sow Fairy Wand seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept a 65°F., germination is irregular over a period of 14-60 days. Transplant into the garden 2 feet apart. See Starting Your Seeds for more information.
