Trailing growth to 8-12″ tall and 3′ across. Delightful, rose pink, phlox-like flowers are held in loose sprays. Blooms cover the plants in May and June. Soapwort is a terrific ground cover, or let plants spill over the side of raised beds. Needs good drainage. Winter hardy to zone 2.
How to Plant Soapwort Seeds
Sow seed in 2″ pots or cell packs, press into soil and lightly cover. Kept at 65° F., germination is in 15-25 days. Can direct sow into prepared seed beds in groups of 6 seeds spaced 18″ apart. Thin to the strongest plant.
