Heavy blooming, 6 foot tall vines produce rich violet, 1.5-2 inch flowers with white throats. Bloom begins midsummer and continues until frost. Train on a trellis or grow in hanging baskets. Perennial in zones 9 and 10, Violet asarina is usually grown as an annual.
Start indoors 10-12 weeks before the last frost. Sow in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 70-75°F., germination is in 14-21 days. When seedlings have several sets of true leaves, transplant into individual containers.
